The Royal School of Church Music

The Royal School of Church Music, the RSCM, is an international educational charity committed to promoting the study, practice and improvement of music in worship and its place in church life. Collectively, the RSCM is united in a desire to ‘be the heart and home of church music’, and Christian ethos underpins everything we do.

We now invite expressions of interest, either directly or by recommendation, for the key role of Chair of Council at the RSCM to succeed Lord Gill, who will be retiring from the position this summer. He/she will lead the trustees for an initial term of four years as the RSCM continues to develop and expand its work, supporting those who work either professionally or voluntarily as church musicians, and the clergy of the church.

The successful appointee will chair meetings of the RSCM Council, which in recent years has supported management and staff with a carefully considered strategy of expansion, including making key appointments to enable the vital work of education to reach beyond our traditional customer base.

Applications will be welcomed from all who consider their experience and abilities to be relevant to this role – either through their professional work, or from a personal interest in the church and church music.

Closing date: 29 June 2018
We anticipate interviews will take place in early July.
